Christchurch terrorist attack: 7 Indians killed in New Zealand mosque attacks, death toll rises to 50

TRI news : Christchurch terrorist attack: In the Christchurch terrorist attacks, seven people, including a woman, were killed in a terror attack, when a white supremacist shot dead two mosques full of worshipers participating in Friday prayers in New Zealand. On Friday, a massive shooting took place at the Al Noor Mosque and the Lynwood Mosque in Central Christchurch in the outskirts of the city. The attackers have been identified as the 28-year-old Australian born Brenton Trent, who allegedly targeted the indigenous people during the Friday prayers. Eyewitnesses said that the victims were shot dead nearby.

The people of New Zealand mourned the victims of the twin mosque massacre on Sunday, giving flowers to memorial sites, and because of the epic testimony of bravery and claiming 50 people suffering from the gun attack.

The Indian High Commission in New Zealand confirmed the names of the five people who had attacked the Muslims in the western country on their Twitter account. The Twitter Post said, “With very heavy mind we share the news of the loss of the precious lives of our 5 citizens in the horrific terrorist attack in #Christchurch

Later in another tweet, the High Commission said that its helpline number – 021803899 and 021850033 – will be available for the assistance of families affected by the attack, round the clock. It also said that a group of community leaders is being formed in Christchurch and their names and numbers will be circulated shortly. Meanwhile, this has been added, which may require assistance when transferring via Auckland, they can contact 021531212.

In the 74-page manifesto, the attacker posted online, described himself as a white supremacist, who was out of revenge for the attacks by Muslims in Europe. New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jasidan Airdern called the attack as terrorism.
