India to host 2020 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup

The Republic India India will host 2020 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup, FIFA confirmed this in a statement on Friday. Decision to give rights to India was taken at the FIFA Council meeting in Miami. At the meeting, FIFA’s strategic and decision-making body members voted on many agenda items, which would shape the future of international competitions. With the U-17 World Cup being awarded to India, this national women team will have a lifetime opportunity to make an impression on the world football map. Spain’s women put their titles on defense, when India plays host to Biennial Showpiece. Spain defeated Mexico in the Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay in 2018, while New Zealand and Canada remained third and fourth respectively.

This development came after India played host in the FIFA U-17 Men’s World Cup. Javier Sippy, Director of the World Cup tournament of the then U-17 Men congratulated India after the development with a tweet, “Stunning news for the game of India and women”.

India’s men team was eliminated in the group stage of the Under-17 World Cup, with their only goal in the marquee tournament that came with Columbia.

England went to seal the U-17 World Cup in India in 2017, in which Spain was runners-up

Heavyweight Brazil remained third on the list without his star Vincius Jr., while Mali got another fourth place.
